Creating a Website: Homepage
Today I will start to setup my website using Wix. The website will showcase my work in Architecture. I have started with a template and will customize my homepage.
I picked this template because I liked the bright background and also how easy it was to locate the different pages on the site. I think it will compliment my project.
I started by changing the text shown. I did this by double clicking on the text and the text dialog box came up.
I had to rename the page so I clicked on my text box and edited it to say my name . I changed the font to "Inknut Antiqua", the font size to 33pts and made it bold. I chose the font because it was readable and looked nice and I made it bold in order to put focus on the name. I added another text box and added the name of my progression route it was also in "Inknut Antiqua" and was 25pts.
I then added an image I downloaded from Unsplash. I did this by clicking on section background and uploading the image I downloaded from Unsplash unto Wix.
I then went to the footer and changed the copyright to my name and the correct year. I also got rid of the "let's chat" box and removed socials as well as I will be creating those myself later.
Using the grid lines, I centralized the name of my website. I also did the same for my navigation buttons so they appear on every page. I also clicked on the text, clicked on design in the dialog box and changed the font to "Inknut Antiqua" and the font size 18pts
I clicked on "pages and menu" in the left hand menu. I deleted all the pages I did not need by clicking on the three dots and then on delete. I changed the name of my pages so the order was right and also added another page by clicking on ''add page'' which was my contacts page. In the end I had my Home, About, Portfolio and Contact pages in my navigation bar in the Header.
Update-
I have changed the background of my homepage as I thought it was too boring and uninviting. I also changed the color of the header and footer. This is the updated version:
I also checked the phone view and adjusted the font size.
