Final Reflection
As this term has finally come to an end I have taken some time to reflect on everything I have learnt and been introduced to these past three months. I started with some photography work in sequential images, then practiced and developed my skills in graphic design and finally worked on my final project based on my continuation route which is architecture. Among all these, I also included research posts in each aspect of digital arts I was practicing at the time.
The first practical task I did was making sequential images. I had taken a photography class in High School but it was never this in depth or practical so this task gave me a better understanding of how to take pictures properly and edit them. It also introduced me to a lot of technical parts of photography such as the conversion, editing and uploading of images which has also extended into the work I do in my other modules, such as 2D/3D media processes when uploading my pictures unto my Instagram sketchbook
Creating designs on the computer was incredibly helpful for me. As I am not someone that is very tech savvy and most designs I did before starting university did not require me to do them digitally. Learning and practicing on software's such as Photoshop and PixlrE really saved time and money and was a great way to visualize and create my ideas and was also a reflection of them. Photoshop helped greatly with editing my final project and creating my design boards while PixlrE was good for creating my adverts. Learning about other softwares such as Unsplash, Pexels and FreeLogoDesign was very helpful for when I needed copyright free images. All these applications also helped me understand the technical aspects of design and I look forward to applying them in the future as well.
The parts where I had create research posts was particularly challenging as I never had to do such before, but the more I wrote, the easier it became. It also introduced me to so many other architects apart from the ones I already knew and helped me to discover the styles I liked, the ones I disliked and the styles I would like to delve into. I even found myself researching and reading in my free time as well.
The process of creating my final project was time consuming and having to balance it with all the other work I had to do within the module and in my other modules was tough, but I was able to persevere through with hardwork and commitment. A lot of the major project work consumed my time and it was the only thing I found myself doing. I would wake up early on weekdays and sleep very late in order to finish it on time but it was all worth it in the end.
I am very pleased with how my blog and website came out and the process of creating it was very fun and stimulating. This module helped me to reach more into my creativity while also knowing and understanding technicalities. It also helped me to become more of an independent learner and although there is still many things for me to improve on, I am now more prepared and even excited for what is to come in the second term.
