Mind Map- Ideas Generation

As a way to generate ideas for our project in AP2, we were asked to create a mind map. After reading the brief, I got to know the requirements and was able to generate some initial ideas I had in the form of drawing, writing and imagery. My project is to create a library and community hub. Here is my mind map below

I originally had the thought of designing a building had a 'stacked' arrangement. The requirement on the brief was to create two floors and I thought of making it look like one building was on top of another like how boxes would be stacked. I drew my idea and also cut up images that encapsulated it well. A thought that came to me when thinking of a library was books and relating it back to the idea of a stacked arrangement, I drew a building idea that looked like a book was placed on top of another. Other building ideas I thought of was an 'L' shaped building, two individual buildings that were attached by a bridge connecting one side to the other. Some of these ideas may not be practical but I just focused on drawing whatever I thought of at the moment. Another thing I thought of was designing a building in which part of the building protruded out at the top (still with a stacked arrangement) in order to offer shade and therefore creating an outdoor area for people to hang around and it would be held down by columns. I next thought about building materials, I thought of using wood to for the exterior. Implementing the use of cross laminated timber would give a nice aesthetic to the building or using a colour palette with cool earth tones.

Here are some buildings that I think relates to my ideas in some way;

These are all just my initial ideas which can still developed or changed over time
