Research Post: Haus B by Yonder

Image
Yonder- Architektur und Design is an architectural and design studio based in Germany. It was founded in 2011 by Katja Knaus and Benedikt Bosch in 2011. " By exploring space, material, construction and their interaction, Yonder creates living spaces that not only shape our perception of space, but also social interaction." (Architektur und Design, n.d.). The project I will be looking at is called Haus B which when translated from German to English directly translates to "House B".   Haus B (2016) by Yonder- Architektur und Design    Haus B was done for a family of architects based in Germany. It was actually a renovation for a preexisting building from the 1950s. Yonder aimed to use as much as the old structure as possible so as to focus on sustainability. The reconstruction also aimed to make use of the space better and easier to use and enhance the view from the house as it faced a lovely basin shaped valley. Parts of the buildings roof and ground floor were rem...

Aaeesha Braimoh is a Nigerian born and raised girl currently studying art and design at DMUIC and plans to progress unto Architecture in the next year. I customized it by picking a form background colour, changing the submit button style and colour, also changing the input field style and colour. Finally I changed the font style to "Inknut Antiqua" to ensure uniformity with my other texts.      After that, I clicked on ''change section background". Creating a Website: Homepage

Image
Today I will start to setup my website using Wix. The website will showcase my work in Architecture. I have started with a template and will customize my homepage.   I picked this template because I liked the bright background and also how easy it was to locate the different pages on the site. I think it will compliment my project.   I started by changing the text shown. I did this by double clicking on the text and the text dialog box came up. I had to rename the page so I clicked on my text box and edited it to say my name . I changed the font to "Inknut Antiqua", the font size to 33pts and made it bold. I chose the font because it was readable and looked nice and I made it bold in order to put focus on the name. I added another text box and added the name of my progression route it was also in "Inknut Antiqua" and was 25pts. I then added an image I downloaded from Unsplash. I did this by clicking on section background and uploading the image I downloaded from Un...

Initial Research: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Image
Since my project will be a residential home within an estate community, the concept will be modern architecture (with some contemporary inputs). Therefore I am looking at the works of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe who is known as one of the pioneers of modern architecture. Mies completed his first building at 21 and was then scouted by Peter Behrens. ''Impressed by this 21-year-old's debut, Peter Behrens offered Mies a job in his office – alongside Gropius and Le Corbusier– initially working on the AEG Turbine Factory.'' (Astbury, 2018). One of his works I will be looking at is the Villa Tugendhat.   Villa Tugendhat (1929-1930) by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe   Villa Tugendhat (1929-1930) by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe   This villa consists of three floors and is built on an incline. The home is very spacious and Mies implemented his functionalist concept through the simplistic form of the building, the execution of an open floor plan to maximize space and the use of natur...
